Honest Spotify Wrapped

At the end of every year, Spotify Wrapped arrives like a digital time capsule — colorful, confident, and often a little too sure of itself. It’s supposed to reflect our true listening habits, highlight our top songs, and define our musical identity. But after running just a few lines of code on my actual Spotify listening data, I realized something surprising:

Spotify Wrapped doesn’t tell the whole story.

My analysis revealed some inconsistencies — songs I barely remembered were charting high, while tracks I knew I had on repeat were nowhere in sight. Whether it’s due to how Spotify defines a “top track,” filters data, or just marketing polish, the wrapped version of my year didn’t quite match reality.

So I decided to dig deeper and build my own honest Spotify Wrapped, data-driven, transparent, and maybe a little embarrassing. 🎧
